JANUARY
1. Nora Roberts - Blue Dahlia (Paperback)
Nice easy read, a hint of mystery with a family ghost and some nice gentle romance.
I have the 2 books that complete the trilogy on the way from the Library.
2. Di Morrissey - The Islands (Paperback)
3. Nancy E Turner - These Is My Words (Paperback)
Fantastic read can't wait to read the next 2 books. An amazing strong woman in Pioneer America. Written by the Grand-daughter of the main character "Sarah".
4. Candace Bushnell - Lipstick Jungle (Paperback)
Can't say that I loved it. Didn't really enjoy it too much, more just plain liked it.
By the Author of Sex in the City, this book too has been turned into a TV series that I was quite enjoying watching for a time but it has mysteriously disappeared as TV shows tend to do.
The book was VERY different to the TV show and I found myself becoming frustrated with the 2 of the 3 main characters and their self obsession and weaknesses. I made it to the end but would not go back and read it again as I do so many books.
5. J.D. Robb - Glory in Death (Audio book)
The second book in a long series of books written by Nora Roberts under a Pseudonym.
I really enjoyed this one, the same as the first. The narrator has a wonderful voice and tells the story well. This is only the 3rd Audio book I have listened to but I am enjoying them alot when my eyes need a rest.
The 2nd installment about Detective Eve Dallas in a futuristic world 2056 solving another murder, falling more in love with the yummy Rorke.
I can't wait to read or listen to the next book.
6. Dance Upon the Air (3 Sisters Trilogy Book 1 - Nora Roberts(Audio book)
Wonderful. I discovered Nora Roberts by chance at a yard sale in the middle of the year and have been keeping an eye out at garage sales and opp shops.
This was a wonderful story about a woman escaping a terrible past and trying to find a new life for herself. I won't spoil it too much, but there is a touch of Magic and some wonderful romance and some really steamy bits too. I didn't want it to end.
7. Nora Roberts - Black Rose (Hardcover Library Book)
The second installment of the "In the Garden" Series that started with the Blue Dahlia that I read up at number 1.
Once again I really enjoyed it. Nora Roberts just writes a very easy read. I really liked the characters, and the story, I can't wait to read the 3rd book.'
8. Nora Roberts - Red Lily (Hardcover Library Book)
A great finish to the "In The Garden" Trilogy. Every book had a wonderful romance without being all Mills & Boon. They stories were so light but not too fluffy. The Ghost was laid to rest and everyone had a happy ending. Just a nice light.
9. The Forgotten Garden - Kate Morton (Audio Book)
LOVED IT. A very long book but just amazing intertwining stories of different generations and the mystery of a child with no past and oh I just loved it. It had a lovely ending too and I can't really say much more without spoiling it. There is some wonderful history and some very well written characters that just make you so annoyed at their prejudices and paranoia but just loved it (did I already say that???)
10. Catwalk - Melody Carlson (Kindle Book)
This was a freebie from Amazon and the first book I have read on my lovely new toy the Kindle. I quite enjoyed this book. It may be aimed at the young adult age-group but I am not sure. It was light reading but a reasonable story. A nice read after the last long book (number 9.) It was also a "Christian" book and I was a bit unsure how I would feel about that as I am quite private about religion and things to do with worship. But it wasn't over the top and shoving "Faith" in your face. I barely noticed it really and just enjoyed the story about 2 sisters who have their own show about fashion, they certainly live the high life and get to travel and meet some wonderful designers and go to some shows and get some freebies, boy do they get freebies. As I said I enjoyed it, very light reading.
11. White Gardenia - Belinda Alexandra (Softcover)
I had read this a few years ago when I got it for Christmas but having got it back from my Mother in law after she read it I wanted to give it another read. I was pleasantly surprised. It is quite a good book. About a Russian girl born in China. It starts right at the end of WW2. So much happens in the book I won't spoil it but she ends up in Australia then Communist Russia right at the end. A very enjoyable read with some wonderful History from Australia and other countries and some great Cultural information also.
